The component simulates the primary tiller emergence when a specified thermal time has accumulated from planting or ratooning, according to two cultivar parameters (TTPLNTEM and TTRATNEM, °C-day), respectively. The base and optimum temperatures are expressed by the ecotype parameters TBASEM and TOPTEM (°C).
