Stalk height increment (m d-1) is linearly dependent on plant elongation rate (PER, cm). When the tiller of a given cohort reaches at least one totally expanded leaf, the effect its size leaf is accounted for:
where PERcoeff is a species parameter expressing the fraction of plant elongation attributable to stalk elongation, TOTEXPLF is the number of totally expanded leaves, LlastTOTEXPLF (cm) is the length of the youngest totally expanded leaf, and lf_angle (°) is the leaf insertion angle, a species parameter. Canopy height (m) is the stalk height of the primary tiller cohort.
