Stalk Non Stalk Dry Mass Partitioning

Parent Previous Next

The partition of aerial dry mass to stalks is enable when a minimum thermal time since emergence is exceeded, with fraction coefficient including the temperature control (Liu and Bull, 2001; Singels et al., 2005):

where is the partition coefficient and (t ha-1 d-1) the stalk dry mass increment; Tmean (°C) is daily mean temperature, TTstalk (°C-day) is thermal time for stalk elongation with base temperature for start of stalk elongation defined by an ecotype parameter (TTBASEEM, °C); CHUPIBASE (°C-day) is a cultivar parameter; STKPFMAX is a cultivar parameter representing the fraction of aerial dry mass partitioned to stalk at high temperature or in a mature crop; T_OPT_SK (°C) is a species parameter representing the temperature below which partitioning to stalk is equal 1.

The remaining fraction of aerial dry mass is complementary partitioned to non-stalk mass.
