Skeleton effects

Parent Previous Next

In SoilW all the percentages of sand, silt and clay are referred to soil particles of diameter lower than 2 mm, and they must add up to 100%.

Skeleton is considered apart, and their percentage is the percentage in weight on total soil weight. Skeleton is considered totally passive respect to water behaviour, and the only effect of it is reducing the soil volume available for water storage.

The skeleton volume is calculated internally dividing the % of skeleton in weight by the bulk density of soil minerals (default 2.65 t m-3), and then values for saturated water content, field capacity and wilting point are simply multiplied by 1-Skeleton volume fraction.

Also saturated conductivity, retention functions and conductivity functions are adjusted for skeleton content.
