The potential death rate of leaves due to water stress is calculated via the equation:
where PotLeavesdead,waterstress is potential death rate of leaves due to water stress (Kg ha-1 d-1), Bleaves is daily rate of dry weight
of living leaves (Kg ha-1 d-1), Tract is the actual transpiration rate (cm d-1), Trpot is potential transpiration (cm d-1) and DeathRateMax
is the maximum relative death rate of leaves due to water stress (kg kg-1 d-1).
Then, the maximum between potential death rate due to high leaf area index (see topic LeavesDeath) and potential death rate of leaves due to water stress is taken for the calculation of the weight of leaves that have died during current time step.
