Pod photosynthetic area

Other than leaf photosynthetic area, WOFOST considers the photosynthesizing areas of stems (see topic Stems photosynthetic area) and pods.

The photosynthetic area of pods can be calculated with the equation:

where Phpods is the rate of photosynthetic area of pods (m2 m-2), Bsto is daily rate of dry weight of storage organs (Kg ha-1 d-1) and SPA is specific pod area (m2 kg-1, to be provided by the user).

Then, by integrating this rate (see also topic Leaves photosynthetic area), the daily state of pods photosynthetic area is obtained.
